Gloom exists because the fashion industry wasn't built for most of us. For too long, getting dressed meant choosing between ill-fitting options or forcing yourself into categories that never felt right. Choosing to browse Men or Women. Standard sizes that exclude more bodies than they include. Trends that demand you keep up or get left behind. We started this brand in Southern Ontario because we believed there had to be another way, one where clothing exists for whoever needs it, without judgment or limitation.
Everything we create runs from the smallest size to the largest available in every single design. Not as an afterthought, but as a baseline. Your body isn't the problem. The industry's refusal to acknowledge the full spectrum of human existence is. Our garments are genderless because gender was never a prerequisite for getting dressed. We design for people, for bodies, for identities that have been marginalized, erased, or told they don't fit the mold. The 2SLGBTQIA+ community isn't a market segment to us. It's our foundation, our family, our reason for fighting. When we say everyone belongs here, we mean it.
Mental health sits at the core of everything we do. We watch the world demand perfection while offering no space to heal, no room to just be. Fashion should ease that burden, not add to it. Comfort isn't laziness. It's resistance. It's choosing yourself when the world asks you to perform. We design with intention, produce slowly and thoughtfully and support mental health resources because looking put together means nothing if you're falling apart inside. This matters more than profit. It always will.
We create for the people who've been told they're too much or not enough. The ones who walk into stores and feel invisible. The bodies between sizes, the identities outside binaries, the humans exhausted from explaining themselves. If you've spent your life trying to fit into spaces that weren't made for you, this space was made for you. We design for healing, for authenticity, for the quiet courage it takes to exist as yourself when the world keeps asking you to be someone else.
Every piece starts with art created in-house by our co-owner, FutureProof Visuals. Graphics that challenge, details that speak without shouting, designs that carry meaning beyond aesthetics. We partner with manufacturers who share our values, who understand that quality and ethics aren't negotiable. Transparency guides our process because you deserve to know where your clothing comes from and who made it. When you choose Gloom, you're participating in a different model, one built on respect, sustainability, and genuine care for the people wearing what we make.
We're building something lasting. Expanding access, deepening our commitment to the planet, creating space where mental well-being and self-expression exist without compromise. This isn't a trend. It's a promise to remain steady when everything else shifts. Join us and peer into the gloom. Comfort is a form of rebellion.
